Hi everyone!

1st Dive - James Fennel Wreck/reef max depth 18m, ropes off at 9am (arrival 8am) £35pp

www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?4797

2nd Dive - Binnendijk Wreck, max depth 28M, ropes off at 1:00pm (if arriving for this dive only 12pm noon) £35pp

The Dutch steamship Binnendijk (The Benny as she is known locally) set off from Boston under steam to New York during September 1939, she was bound for Rotterdam. On entry to the English Channel, she was requested by the Royal Navy to dock in Weymouth or Portland before crossing the channel for an inspection (there was suspicion of her carrying contraband). On the 7/10/1939 as she travelled up to Portland, the captain – W.Moree requested she drop anchor off the Shambles as the sun was setting. Around 10pm she struck a newly developed German magnetic mine (laid by the U-26). One of the first types used in combat. After striking she was soon ablaze and sinking slowly and literally went down in a blaze of glory, she was alight from stem to stern. She sunk on October 8th, 1939

Currently 6 divers on the boat max so spaces are limited (there will also be an option to join for 1 dive only, so potentially if there are more than 6 divers wanting to go we could split into morning dive and afternoon dive)

Once confirmed, please make sure you arrive with plenty of time to get ready and kitted up (try to allow an hour or more so no last minute rushing) All divers must be comfortable using an SMB. Procedures to follow regarding latest government guidelines and Covid-19 will be updated and sent out nearer the time. All divers must fill in a current medical form, unless they have recently filled one in and we have it on file already.

You can find it here, please fill in and email it back to me....

Diving at night offers a whole new dimension to your diving. As the sun goes down, some species hide way for the night but others come out under cover of darkness.

Learning to dive in darkness is an adventure in itself. You will learn the protocols and equipment needed to dive safely and comfortably after the sun drops below the horizon.

This could be a whole new way to see the aquatic world!

Deep Specialty
Deep Specialty

Saturday 17th October 2020, 8:00 - Sunday 18th October 2020, 16:00

Dive SouthPoole, Map

Deep diving is a means to an end. You make a deep dive, not necessarily for the dive itself, but to see, do or experience something which is at that greater depth.

A Deep Specialty gives you access to new areas and activities, and the training to plan and safely enjoy them. The course is designed to introduce you to the world of deep diving and to help you develop your skills, knowledge and techniques to safely participate in deep dives. You’ll extend your diving range and knowledge by learning about hazards, dive planning, redundancy and organisation, as well as special procedures and techniques that are relevant to deep dives.

You’ll learn equipment considerations, risk and redundancy, planning your limits with regards to environment, you and your buddy’s abilities, previous dives and proximity of emergency care. Training also includes information about air management, nitrogen narcosis, decompression illness (DCI),and re-compression chamber procedures.

For information on this course please contact us by messenger or at info@divesouth.co.uk
