This First Aid and CPR course is more designed with the diver and support diver in mind. It forms a part of the RAID Master Rescue Diver program, but can be taken as a stand-alone qualification in it’s own right.
It is not designed to be used as a non-diving workplace qualification, but the generic skills learned on the First Aid course can be used in non-diving situations.
Learning covers how to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations, with a lean toward those that divers are likely to encounter. Upon completion, you should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of first-aider. This includes use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to handle one of the leading causes of adult deaths.
The course does not contain theoretical aspects of Decompression Sickness or Oxygen Administration, as these are covered in the Master Rescue and the Emergency Oxygen Provider Programs.
The skills you’ll gain are useful in a diving context, and essential for the Master Rescue Diver course and professional levels, but just as importantly, they’re useful skills to have at hand anywhere.
