Drift Diver

Diving in a current has its own hazards, but with the right skills and knowledge it can be a great experience. Even the turtle in the photo opposite had a bit of trouble in the strong current!

Imagine diving along a reef wall and being able to just hover and watch, as everything comes to you! Using less effort your air consumption drops, and you get longer in the water.

You will learn the theory, skills, problems and hazards of drift diving; special equipment used (floats, lines, reels); procedures for buoyancy-control, navigation and communication; site selection and overview of aquatic currents – causes and effects; and techniques for ensuring you stay with your buddy or group.
