Enriched Air Nitrox Diver

Your dive time is limited by nitrogen in the air you breathe, which dissolves into your body tissues while you're underwater. The amount and rate at which you absorb nitrogen determines your no decompression limit and ultimately your dive time for recreational dives. By using enriched air ("Nitrox") that has a greater percentage of oxygen you can reduce the amount of nitrogen in your breathing mixture, and in doing so extend your dive time beyond the no decompression limit for air.

As an example of the benefits of using Nitrox consider a typical no decompression dive on the popular local wreck Kyara. Using air you can have a maximum dive time of 20 mins at 30 metres on this wreck. Using EANx 32% you can have a multilevel dive at depths of 30m, 28m and 25m for 45 mins!.

You'll learn about the use, benefits and hazards of using enriched air mixes with 22 to 40% oxygen, enriched air dive planning and the procedures you need to understand to obtain nitrox fills and dive safely with it.
